Service Description

Art with Heart Does your student have a servant's heart where they like to help others? Do they like making handmade gifts to give to others? With a service project based model, students will learn how art can be used as a way to bring joy to their community. While learning art skills such as drawing, painting, sculpting, collaging, and other skills, students will create art that can be shared with their community and those in need. Students will learn about and partner with community organizations to provide art filled "gifts" that can be used to encourage and support various members of our community. Such projects may include creating holiday cards for senior citizens in local nursing homes, painting art to be hung in local offices that serve families and children facing trying times, and more. Students will gain leadership skills in addition to art skills as students will be given the opportunity to help brainstorm of ways to bring the joy of art to their community and share their own ideas of how to help. This is a great opportunity to gain community service hours, network with local community leaders, and build relationships that can last and benefit the student in their future endeavors. Will students get to keep any art? Absolutely! Whatever they make for the community, they can also make for themselves. After all, we all can benefit from the joy of art. All students will be invited to participate in our studio art show to spotlight their hard work and amazing pieces of art.
